For a victim of sexual assault and or domestic violence the simple phrase, “I believe you,” expressed by a Haven crisis line specialist, is often the beginning of a new empowerment plan for that person. Haven, providing a resource of trained professionals that are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, is invaluable to those trapped in horrible situations. It has helped thousands of women realize they are not alone.
Please take a few minutes to listen to the podcast and hear the words of two dedicated professionals who are making a difference at Haven of Oakland County. MiVida Burrus, Director of Development, and Jasmine Valentine, Marketing and Development Manager, share all the good works and services provided at Haven and educate the 3rd Act community on all the comprehensive resources available for sexual assault victims and their families.
You will be amazed to hear about the long history of Haven and how it has grown and adapted to changing social conditions by providing individual empowerment plans for women and girls caught up in horrific situations.
All of the resources and services provided by Haven and its dedicated staff are totally free to all clients. You will hear about the residential program, onsite and telehealth counseling, legal system advocacy support, forensic treatment exams, and get an overview of their one-stop facility of comprehensive services.
These services require a trained and dedicated staff of professionals to be available every day of the week. The resources provided depend on volunteers and funding from Haven’s corporate and individual donors.
Haven’s biggest fundraising event is right around the corner and I am pleased to invite you to join me in participating in the Resilience Gala on May 12, at Shepherd’s Hollow Golf Club in Clarkston, Michigan. You can sign up for tickets and donations to the Gala on the Haven website under Events. Please make a point to check out the Gala information whether you represent a corporate sponsor on an individual donor compelled to help this worthy organization.
